Our charities

Having a great time while raising money for some amazing organisations.

What's not to like?

All the shanty groups that are performing give their time for free.  With the support of our partners, especially The SS Great Britain Trust and the Underfall Yard Trust, last year  we raised over £7,000 for our charity partners.

In May 2023, there was a devastating fire at Underfall Yard which destroyed several workshops dedicated to maritime crafts. Thankfully no one was hurt, however the loss of these workshops has made a huge impact on the businesses that operate from these workshops, as well as the communities that surround the yard and the Floating Harbour. The Bristol Shanty Festival is proud to support the rebuilding of the workshops from your donations.

We were also able to support:

Children's Hospice South West

Providing hospice care for children with life-limiting conditions and their whole family. Respite and short breaks, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care at three wonderful children's hospices; Little Bridge House in Devon, Charlton Farm in Somerset and Little Harbour in Cornwall.

Somerset Prostate Support Association   (SPSA)

Founded in 2003, the SPSA soon established itself as a much-needed source of help and support for Somerset men diagnosed with prostate cancer and their families. SPSA is a registered charity and run entirely by volunteers, many with personal experience of PC and the effect it has on their lives and that of their families

The RNLI

The Bristol Shanty Festival and High and Dry are proud to support the RNLI.  Here we are in 2022  handing over a cheque for £2400 to the 85'ers crew at the Portishead Lifeboat Station.
